VKM is Norway's partner for EFSA og CITES
EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority, helps improve food security, protect consumers and maintain confidence in EU food production.
As a focal point, VKM promotes the exchange of information and knowledge between EFSA and the member countries and contributes to joint projects. In addition, VKM works to make EFSA's work visible in Norway.
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, CITES, works to ensure that trade in endangered species and their products is regulated and monitored, to protect species from extinction.
As a scientific authority, VKM is responsible for producing all scientific assessments needed for effective enforcement of the CITES agreement in Norway.
