Key message:
(Re-)export of two live captive-bred Guianan squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus) from a Norwegian zoo to an Israeli zoo will not be detrimental to the survival of the species.
Thus concludes the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM).
The assessment was commissioned by the Norwegian Environment Agency, which is the management authority for the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Norway.
VKM is the scientific authority for CITES in Norway and prepares NDF (non-detriment finding) reports in accordance with the methodology published by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and CITES.
