Commissioned: 13.02.2025
Publishing: 20.06.2025
Key message:
The Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM) will assess environmental and human health risk of using Lepidoglyphus destructor as feed for Amblyseius andersoni in the product Anso-Mite Plus.
The assessment is being carried out for the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.
Background
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has received an application for approval of the product Anso-Mite Plus. The product consists of the active organism A. andersoni and the feed organisms Carpoglyphus lactis and L. destructor. Amblyseius andersoni and C. lactis have previously been assessed by VKM.
Assignment
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority asks VKM to assess and provide opinions on the following:
- Occurrence and distribution of the organism in Norway,
- Potential for this organism to survive and spread in the environment under Norwegian conditions, specified for outdoor use and use in greenhouses,
- Potential effects to non-target organisms and biodiversity under Norwegian conditions,
- The human health risk by using Anso-Mite Plus, and
- Taxonomic challenges that may affect the risk assessment.
